Pennsylvania Water Well Handbook
Most rural Pennsylvania homes have water produced from private supplies. It is estimated that over one million private water wells are utilized in the Commonwealth, producing over a half billion gallons of water per day for residents.
SAFER PA recognized that many homeowners do not have comprehensive knowledge and sufficiently understand how their private water supply is sited, how it functions and how it should be maintained to assure a safe supply. The “Pennsylvania Water Well Handbook” developed by SAFER PA will help private water supply owners understand the nature and function of a Pennsylvania private water supply. The handbook is expected to have wide distribution, both in hard copy and in electronic form, and will be an invaluable resource to well owners, the gas industry and regulators.
